Board of Directors
    Bishop Michael Bransfield is the Chairman of the Board of Directors. He assumed this position on February 22, 2005 when he was installed as the 8th Bishop in the history of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston. He was ordained a priest in 1971 by the late John Cardinal Krol. He received his masters degree in divinity from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Overbrook, PA and a masters degree in philosophy from the Catholic University of America. Since 1980 and prior to his appointment as Bishop he had served various roles, including Director of Liturgy, Director of Finance, Executive Director and Rector all at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C. He was born in Philadelphia, PA and is the third of four boys born to the late Vincent and Mary Jane (Granahan) Bransfield.
    Mr. Tom Pie’ is our Board President. Tom is a member of our Board Finance/Public Relations/Audit Review Commnitte. He is a native of Philadelphia, PA and is a 1977 graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University with a degree in Business Administration. He earned his MBA in 1994 from Wheeling Jesuit University. Tom has twenty-six years of Business Management, Higher Education Administration, and Financial Advising. He resides in St. Clairsville, OH with his lovely wife Jennie and their two sons Tom and David.  
    Dr. Warren Galbreath re-joined the Board of Directors in July 2007. Warren is our Board Vice-President/Secretary. He is a member of the Board Program Committee. Warren is an Associate Professor of social work at Ohio University's Eastern Campus. He holds a Master Degree in Social Work from West Virginia University and a PhD in social work from Ohio State. Warren comes to the St. John's Board of Directors with over 30 experience working with at-risk youths. He has been employed in the past by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, The Children's Home of Wheeling, Northwood and Youth Services systems. He has also worked extensively in developing an outcome system for providers of children's mental health in West Virginia.
    Mr. Tom Buck joined the Board of Directors in December 2006. Tom is our Board Treasurer and is Chairperson of our Board Finance/Public Relations/Audit Review Committee. Tom has a B.S. and J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. Tom is a Senior Partner with the law firm of Bailey and Wyant, P.L.L.C. and has been a Litigation attorney for over 15 years in both State and Federal cases and is a licensed attorney in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Tom cites that he is married to the “most wonderful woman in the world” and has three children. Tom is a Member of the Corpus Christi Knights of Columbus where he has served as its Advocate and a past member of the Corpus Christi Pastoral Council. He enjoys hunting, hiking, camping and fishing.
    Mr. Chris Basinger joined the Board of Directors in July of 2007. Chris is a member of our Board Finance/Public Relations/Audit Review Committee. He is a graduate of West Liberty University with a B.S. in Business Administration. Chris is employed by the Ziegenfelder Company as their Logistics Manager and Inventory Analyst. He is a member of Corpus Christi Parish in Warwood. Chris is married to his lovely wife Amy and they have two children, Madison and Isaac.
    Sr. Janice Landwehr, C.S.J. joined the Board of Directors in July 2006. She is a member of our Finance/Public Relations/Audit Review Committee. Sr. Janice has been a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph since 1964. She currently serves as the Co-Executive Director of the SSJ Health and Wellness Foundation which is a sponsored ministry of the Congregation of St. Joseph of Wheeling. Sr. Janice graduated with a bachelors degree in Education from West Liberty University. She taught for 33 years in Catholic Schools in Clarksburg, Weston, and Wheeling. She also serves on the Wheeling Catholic School Advisory Council. Sr. Janice has also served on the Board of Directors for the Sisters of St. Joseph Foundation, Inc. for the past 6 years. She enjoys reading and walking and is interested in children's issues especially in the area of education and children's health.  
Mr. Joe Ripoly rejoined the Board of Directors in July of 2008. Joe is a retired banker of 33 years. Joe is a member of our Board Finance Committee. He is active with the Easter Seals Programs and the March of Dimes. Joe is married to Susan, his wife of over 40 years. They have one daughter, Kimberly, and three grandchildren, Jessica, Randall Joseph, and Elsa. Joe enjoys astrology, book collecting, tennis and golf.
    Mrs. Carolyn Schafer rejoined our Board of Directors in July 2007. She serves on our Program Committee. Her employment has been almost entirely in the social services/child welfare arena both as a direct services worker and as an Administrator. She presently works as an independent contractor in human resources and continuous quality improvement. Carolyn lives in Wheeling with her husband Alvin. Together they have four children, living in Cincinnati, OH, Alexandria, VA, Boston, MA and Memphis, TN.
    Mrs. Karen Shilling joined the St. John’s Home Board of Directors on July 1, 2009.  Karen is a member of the Board Program Committee.  Karen is a graduate of West Liberty University with a B.S. in Psychology and is a licensed social worker in WV.  Her employment history includes having been an Area Coordinator with the Northern Panhandle Head Start, and having been Director of Social Services at the Bishop Hodges Continuous Care Center.  Karen is currently an Account Executive with Amedisys/Tender Loving Care Home Health and Hospice.   Karen resides in St. Clairsville, OH with her husband David and son Vinnie, a student at Fairmont State College.
    Mrs. Marilyn Schnupp joined the St. John’s Home Board of Directors in November 2005. Marilynn is a member of the Board Program Committee. She is employed by Ohio County Schools with the Adult Education program at West Virginia Northern Community College. She is a member of the WorkForce Investment Board and also serves on the Youth Council Committee. Marilynn resides in Bethlehem with her husband Dr. James Schnupp and they have five wonderful children.
Mrs. Betty Jo Sproull re-joined the Board of Directors in July of 2008. She is a member of the Program Committee. Betty Jo is currently employed as a nursing instructor at West Liberty University.
